Our second day in Salvador started with the plan to walk across the City park , but sadly only a small part of it is open for tourists and safe enough to go to. Additionally to that the safe part is not worth seeing at all!
A good place we spent our lunch at was a Pasta all you can eat place. They serve delicious pasta, especially several shrimp dishes ( com camarão).
A nice place to see the sunset is at Barra Beach, you might not want to get beer there, it wasn’t cold at all. Instead of buying food or drinks on the streets a super market is close by.
In general it has to be said that without any local guidance or a good city map it is a hard piece to get around Salvador. Bus system remains a mistery even after a few days not only for foreigners, but also brazilian travellers from other cities.

We made a great day trip to Praia de Forte, a nice resort-like beach and tourist town with a worth mentioning tortoise centre. ( Tamar). From Salvador busses leave several times and it takes about 90 minutes with Linha Verde for 8 Reais. The Busses leave from Salvador Bus Station.
It is a nice day trip, but you need to be aware that it is a tourist place, not much room for locals. They got ATMs there, noone speaks english.
At night we took a couch from Salvador to Maceió, the Capital of the state Alagoas. 9 hours later we arrived in the “small-town-like” metrópole.
We camped for 15 Reais per person very close to the beach and a 15 Minute walk to the main restaurant promenade on Praia Cruz das Almas.
Maceió is worth for a day trip, more days are not necessary to see the city. The beaches are nice but not extraordinary.

From Maceió we took a local bus for 12,50 Reais with DEF to Maragogi, a famous tourist place with a “reef” and famous White-sanded beaches.
For a Pousada on the Esplanade you pay 70 Reais for a Double with Air Con, hot shower, TV and Fridge.
There are a lot of offers to go to the reef for snorkelling, don’t go if you want to see real reef or if you are interested more in sea life than tourists snorkelling in 1 metre deep water in rock pools.
If you’re still convinced you want to go, don’t pay the 50Reais which are the locals’ first offer, pay the most 30 Reais.

After Maragogi we travelled with pretty much every kind of transportation to get to Porto de Galinhas. We took a mini bus to Barreiros to switch into a Kombi ( an ordinary car in Brazil, for Europe: SURFBUS!) to drive to Ipojuca to take a bus there to Porto de Galinhas. We payed about 12 Reais each for all of those fares ( 3,50R, 7R, 2R). It’s possible to get a straight bus for the same price. It is meant to leave at 7am and 12am, we wanted to take the 12am one, waited until 1.30pm and decided to not wait any longer (even though it is sure that it would have arrived some time...) and take the private transportation system.
Porto de Galinhas is a super nice and safe place for travellers. It has pretty much one main street with shops and food places and a great beach, White sand, turqouise water and waves for surfers of any level, The Atlantic provides great tube waves for experienced surfers and calm perfect “learner’s” waves.
If you want to experience a very special stay, stay at Albergue do Alberto, close to the beach and main street and full of interesting people. For 15 Reais ( CHEAP!!!) you get offered a smelly, shared room. If you”re lucky you will share the room with the owner or some street artist, Michael Jackson Double or homeless-looking randoms J Don’t hesitate to stay there. It is like camping, but the price is unbeatable. We didn’t have any electricity for a day now, because the owner couldn”t pay the bills, but we hope that for future visitors and backpackers the hostel will still be existing.

We took the bus which leaves every 30min from Porto de Galinhas to Recife and arrived 3 hours later in the state capital of Pernambuco.( The bus was meant to take us there in approx. 1 hour). Recife is a huge city with over 2,5 million habitants and it has the reputation of being pretty dangerous. At least it has the highest murder rates in the whole country. It has an old city centre which doesn’t offer any special sights. The suburb Boa Voagem is famous for its many hostels and places to stay. We chose a backpacker’s hostel for 30Reais a night for a bed in the dorm, but there’s noone to share the room with. The beach at Boa Viagem is closed for surfers all year through due to the extreme danger of shark attacks. Over the past 10 years there had been more than 20 fatal incidents on that beach. Swimming is possible, swimmers seem to be less tasty?!
For free wireless internet visit the huge shopping centre. It’s very close to Boa Viagem, probably too expensive for backpacker’s budget shopping though.

Acordamos bem cedo, e fomos a Praia do Forte, onde fica o Projeto Tamar. Da rodoviária, custa 8 reais, pela Linha Verde, sempre tem ônibus, demora 1 hora e meia mais ou menos. O lugar eh BEM turístico, bem organizado e seguro, possui caixas eletrônicos 24 horas, vários restaurantes e lojas. Para entrar no Projeto Tamar, adultos pagam 10 reais, e estudantes pagam 5, vale a pena! A praia em si eh muito bonita também.
Voltamos pra Salvador a noite, arrumamos as coisas e fomos direto pra Rodoviária para pegar o ônibus e ir para Recife. Como existia apenas 1 vaga nos resolvemos ir a Maceió. Pegamos o ônibus as 10 da noite e chegamos em Maceió 7 e meia da manha.
Chegando em Maceió pegamos um ônibus ateh a praia de Jatiuca, e depois fomos andando ateh o bairro Cruz das Almas onde fica o camping. O preço eh 20 reais, mas conseguimos por 15. O camping eh bem organizado, tem banheiros mas não tem cozinha, fica bem em frente da praia.
Eu particularmente não gostei de Maceió, achei as praias um pouco sujas, e nada de muito interessante.
Fomos também a um centro de informações turísticas (ajudam bastante), pegamos mapas e resolvemos ir para Maragogi – ultima cidade de Alagoas.

Chegamos em Maragogi a noite, sem lugar pra ficar, andamos 1 quarterao e já estávamos na praia com varias opções de pousada. Os preços giram em torne de 70 para duas pessoas, chuveiro quente, TV, frigobar e café da manha. Fizemos o passeio as piscinas naturais, eles custam 50 por pessoas, mas se vcs esperare um pouco podem conseguir por 30 reais. Eu não gostei muito porque aspisinas naturais eram praticamente pedras, não eram um recife mesmo, então acho que soh vale a pena pagar se você nunca fez snorkel antes.
As praias de Maragogi são maravilhosas, eh uma cidade muito gostosa e segura.

De Maragogi resolvemos vir para Porto de Galinhas – PE. Como os transfer são CARISSIMOS resolvemos vir de ônibus mesmo, o jeito mais barato. Para vir de ônibus, vc tem que ir ateh a rodovia (que não fica longe da cidade) o ônibus passa entre 12 e 14, pois eh, esperar esse tempo eh um saco. Por isso resolvemos fazer diferente, Van ateh Barreiros – R$3,50, uma Kombi (SIM UMA KOMBI QUE ATEH MACACO TINHA!) ateh Ipojuca – R$ 7,00 e depois um Ônibus de Ipojuca ateh Porto de Galinhas por R$ 1,85. A viagem toda demoa umas 3 horas, mas vc sempre para aonde tem que pegar o próximo Ônibus.
Chegando aqui, fomos ateh o Centro de informações turísticas, pegamos um mapa e descobrimos um Albergue aqui, chama Albergue do Alberto. Fica DO LADO da Praia, e do lado da Praça das Piscinas Naturais (seria o centro daqui). Apenas 15 reais por pessoa, vc divide o quarto eh claro. O lugar não eh aquela maravilha, mas por 15 reais, não da pra pedir muito neh?
Porto de Galinhas, SEM DUVIDA, foi o MELHOR lugar que visitamos ateh agora. Com a melhor infraestrutura, as praias mais bonitas, e aqui pra ir ateh as piscinas naturais custa apenas 10 reais, e vc vai de Jangada, vale a pena!

Bom, hoje acordei me sentindo mal, porque ontem eu e o Oliver fomos idiotas e dormimos na praia do meio dia as 2 da tarde, ou seja, INSOLACAO. Fiquei com febre, me sentindo mal, por isso hoje de manha decidimos vir logo para Recife. Tem onibus de meia em meia hora de Porto de Galinhas, e custa apenas R$6,10. Demora 1 hora e meia eh bem perto. Descemos num terminal de onibus, depois pegamos outro onibus para o Shopping de Recife, eles tem wireless de graca la. Como eu ainda nao estava me sentindo bem pegamos um taxi ateh o Albergue, deu apenas 8 reais eh bem pertinho. O Albergue custa 30 reais por noite, e fica junto com um bar-restaurante mexicano, bem legal aqui, tem ateh piscina! =)
